How many people will have used this title before me? Probably millions. But this blog is better than theirs so I win.
Lessons learned this year -
1 The standard Canon lens which comes with your DSLR is rubbish. Soft with a short focal length. The Sigma 17-70 is my current lens now and it is 'the bomb'.
2 However, new kit does not always mean lighter kit and I think I may now have hunchback, despite the ergonomic design of my crumpler backpack
3 Laptops are great, and I still kind of feel like a spy when using one
4 Apple Aperture is an excellent programme although over-complex for what is essentially a filing system. Nice loupe, though.
5 Work Work Work Work Work. It's the only way to learn
6 People in New York are far more amenable to having their photos taken that stallholders at Blochairn Market
7 Driving isn't as hard as I thought it would be, but I do stall at least 5 times per lesson
